Sometimes we get a little disillusioned by the yoga poses and postures we come across on social media, especially all the beautiful backbend and pretzel like images.

These images can often make us feel like we’re not good enough, that we’re lacking something or that there is just something not quite right with us.

Like Donna Farhi states “From an evolutionary prospective, the human spine has no need for the practice of extreme back bends, and indeed there has yet to be a relevant everyday application for touching the top of the head to the feet!

What we do need is regular, gentle and integrated graduated extension that maintains the fluid uprightness of the spine and keeps the spine strong for vertical activities.”

Imagine you’re a tree today, can you keep your spine strong for all your vertical activities?!?

Sometimes we are a little overwhelmed…

Yes, even the two of us can get overwhelmed sometimes. Granted, not as often as we used to, but it still occurs – I mean we are only human after all!!!!

Remember that if you’re not ready to do a full workout due to feeling ill or not fully rested, be sure to walk instead. You’ll gain such great benefit from this simple practice if done with awareness.

Walking into the rising sun first thing in the morning – this is the biggest, easiest tip/ action step you can take if you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed or depressed.

Walk for at least 20 minutes at sunrise.

A great way to help you sleep is to add a few drops of a lovely essential oil to a carrier oil and rub it into your feet before you head to bed (use something that is calming and or grounding like lavender or cedar wood).

Did you know that rose can reduce stress and lower the heart rate? Apparently rose has been shown to have anti-depressant benefits, it calms and uplifts as well.
